WEBBING TECHNIQUE

"ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISSI" I took this photo while visiting the cathedral in Assissi, Italy. Back home, I first laid my paper out on my lawn and sprayed it with white acrylic webbing spray. After sketching the statue, I worked wet in wet for the flowers and background. I then put the values and details in the statue.
"THINK IT'LL RAIN?" I spotted these cute statues at a bed and breakfast in England and just had to bring them to life. Following the same technique as I did for the St. Francis painting, I worked wet into wet over the entire painting. Lastly, I glazed into the figures to give them dimension.
"RED POPPIES" This was a demo for a class. I followed the same technique, putting the webbing spray on first and then developing the painting. My students had fun with this technique. I've been asked to have a workshop with this technique again - maybe in 2012.
